It’s pretty rare to listen to a song for the first time and know within the first 8 seconds that you love it – but that’s exactly how I felt listening to ’40 Day Dream’.  It has a jubilant, rousing, uplifting melody and rhythm that gets your foot tapping immediately.  It makes you want to clap your hands over your head like on that old game show “Kidstreet” (+1 point for the obscure Canadian/80’s reference).  It currently holds the land-speed record for quickest acceleration from zero-to-fistpump.  I think you get the picture.

I’m probably way behind the curve here as this is the first I’ve heard from the band (Edward Sharpe & the Magnetic Zeros), but the concept is great – apparently Edward Sharpe is lead singer Alex Ebert’s alter-ego, “a messianic figure who comes to Earth to save mankind, but keeps getting distracted by falling in love”.  Anyways, check out the song.

Also, here is some live footage of the song, complete with some ‘Tom Yorke 15 step’-ish dancing.
